AI and multimedia authenticity standards

The main objectives of this session will be to introduce the work of the AI and multimedia authenticity standards collaboration and the activities under the three main areas of focus: Technical activities, Policy and Communications respectively. 

Fact-checkers play an essential role in today’s information environment, as they are specialised in securing accuracy in public discourse. They are vital for both journalists and other public figures in the information production process, who depend on them to not accidentally distribute digital disinformation proliferating online. This session will explore the role of fact checkers and the tools that are used in the process of verifying the information and will provide practical guidelines for journalists and news audiences on how to verify visual mis- and disinformation themselves.

The objective of this session is to present the work undertaken by AMAS on the standards mapping landscape for AI and multimedia authenticity at the level of standardization bodies and industry initiatives and the purpose of the standards identified and their applications in multimedia authenticity. 

The objective of this session is to highlight how international standards can support policy and regulatory cooperation, and support its’ effective implementation to combat misinformation, disinformation, and deepfakes. The findings of the Policy Paper prepared by AMAS will be presented and discussed during the session.
