Misinformation, disinformation, and deepfakes are ranked as the number one global threat. Addressing this transboundary challenge requires coordinated solutions from governments, regulators, and industry leaders.

This interactive session explores how international standards can help governments and regulators craft effective responses. Using the topic of AI and media authenticity as a concrete case study, the workshop will explore how standards can serve as practical tools to promote transparency and accountability, uphold human rights, and guide responsible innovation in AI systems. Participants will work with practical tools developed by the AI and Multimedia Authenticity Standards Collaboration to support real-world implementation by policymakers, regulators, and technologists. This session is relevant for policymakers, government representatives, standards developers, technologists, and other key stakeholders involved in AI regulation, governance, and standardization.
