Second ITU/WMO/UNEP workshop on AI for Natural Disaster Management

  • The International Telecommunication Union (ITU),  World Meteorological Organization (WMO)​ and UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are organizing a workshop to explore the uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting natural disaster prediction/early warning as well as improving our understanding of  hazards and disasters.
    The Workshop will take place on 23 June 2021, from 10h00 -15h30 CEST. This Workshop will be followed by the second meeting of the ITU/WMO/UNEP  Focus Group on AI for Natural Disaster Management (FG-AI4NDM), 24-25 June 2021.​

    Objectives​​
    The workshop will elaborate on the role that AI plays (or could play) to support data collection and handling, improve modelling across spatiotemporal scales, and provide effective communication in the event of a natural disaster. Encompassing four sessions, the workshop will have  high-caliber scientific and technical presentations followed by interactive discussions.
    Target Audience

    The focus group workshops are freely open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from an ITU member country. This includes individuals who are members of international, regional and national organizations.

    Participation
    Registration is mandatory to attend the workshop.
    Please note that separate registration is required to attend the FG-AI4NDM meeting, 24 – 25 June 2021.
