As nations worldwide rush to integrate artificial intelligence into education, a critical gap has emerged: teachers remain the least prepared stakeholders in this transformation. This session presents a practitioner-developed framework for equipping K-12 educators, across both formal school settings and informal learning environments such as after-school programs and STEM camps, with the pedagogical skills and ethical grounding needed to introduce students to AI, coding, and robotics responsibly. Drawing on emerging research documenting the cognitive risks of early and uncritical technology adoption in younger learners (K-6), we argue that AI integration in education is not a binary choice between adoption and avoidance. Instead, it demands a developmental, human-centered approach, one that prioritizes deep learning, critical inquiry, and healthy skepticism alongside technical fluency.
