Organized by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, this session explores the harmful impact of AI on information integrity in humanitarian contexts, particularly in situations of forced displacement, conflict and crisis, and mitigating responses.

AI-driven information risks such as misinformation, hate speech, manipulated content, and gendered deepfakes affect refugee protection, humanitarian action and the delivery of life-saving information.

The session convenes thought-leaders and experts from the humanitarian, government, technology and academic communities to share practical, data-informed responses. It will showcase innovative field-tested approaches and collaborative strategies under development with partners such as the Government of Switzerland.

The positive potential of Artificial Intelligence as part of the solution will be part of the dialogue, such as improving access to safe information, responsible innovation, digital wellbeing, and stronger protection outcomes.

Ahead of the 75th Anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention, this event will be an opportunity for AI for Good participants to hear how protecting forcibly displaced communities from AI-enabled information risks are a shared responsibility, demanding collaboration, practical cooperation, and a commitment to the safe use of AI technologies.
