I had the privilege of attending the 2024 ITU AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2024. As a young researcher passionate about leveraging artificial intelligence to address global challenges, this event was a transformative experience.
The summit brought together an incredible array of experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and grassroots innovators from around the world to explore how AI can be harnessed for social good. For three days, we engaged in thought-provoking discussions, workshops, and collaborative sessions that opened my eyes to the immense potential of AI when applied responsibly and ethically.
One of the most impactful sessions was the presentation of USE CASES that I did at the Summit and all other presentations from my colleagues. This program has brought together scholars from different countries to share our projects on how AI can solve different problems in our society which aligns with the UN SDGs.
Beyond the formal program, the networking opportunities at ITU AI for Good were unparalleled.
I connected with passionate changemakers from different countries, exchanging ideas and exploring potential collaborations. These new relationships have already led to exciting new research directions and project proposals. Attending this summit has left a deep and lasting impact. I’ve returned home with a renewed sense of purpose, armed with a toolbox of AI for social good frameworks and a global community of allies. I’m more convinced than ever that responsible AI innovation can be a powerful catalyst for positive transformation in the world’s most pressing domains. I’m grateful to have been a part of this remarkable gathering, and I look forward to continuing this critical work in the years to come. As a lecturer at the University, I will promote this program so that more of my students will participate in the coming Summit.
