Thomas Schneider

Thomas Schneider is Ambassador and Co-Director of International Affairs at the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) in the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). He is a long-standing expert in digital governance and in the governance of the information and knowledge society and artificial intelligence. He is leading the Swiss delegation in various key international fora in these fields (UN, ITU, UPU, UNESCO, OECD, Council of Europe, etc.). He has been leading several international processes, including the negotiations on the first binding international treaty on AI at the Council of Europe. He is also responsible for the preparation and organization of the upcoming Global AI Summit to be held in Geneva in 2027.
