KCB Pirates

We are a passionate team of young innovators from Uganda, united by a shared drive to harness the power of robotics and artificial intelligence for sustainable development. Led by Joash Turinawe, alongside team members Mubiru Daniel Kirabo and Gandigudde Jonathan Kagawa, our team thrives at the intersection of hardware prototyping, software engineering, and community-centric problem solving.

As fourth-year secondary students, we have spent our challenge season diving deep into the complexities of embedded systems, microcontroller programming, and structural design. Our journey has been defined by hands-on experimentation—from troubleshooting power distribution and fine-tuning servo motor controls to integrating smart sensor logic that allows our designs to interact dynamically with their environment.
We believe that the global challenges of today cannot be solved with yesterday’s methods. By participating in the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge, our goal is not just to build a high-scoring, competitive robot, but to demonstrate how accessible automation and intelligent design can address pressing issues like renewable energy, efficiency, and sustainability within our community. We see robotics not as a distant future, but as a practical tool we can use right now to create tangible, positive change. We are excited to represent our perspective on the global stage and inspire other youth across Africa to start building for good.
