Andinet International School Steam Club

Our team is a fusion of technical expertise and competitive success, bringing together a group of innovators deeply rooted in the international robotics community. Composed of three primary members and guided by seasoned mentorship, we are dedicated to utilizing artificial intelligence to address global challenges.

The team consists of three incredibly experienced high school engineers: Mikias Tewodros,Dagmawi Tewodros, and Esrom Anagaw, all veterans of the FIRST Global Challenge (FGC).

Esrom Anagaw and Dagmawi Tewodros served as the co-drivers for Team Ethiopia at FGC Panama 2025. Their established partnership in high-pressure competitive environments allows the team to work incredibly well.

Completing the trio is Mikias Tewodros, an accomplished robotics athlete and the younger brother of Dagmawi. Mikias played a pivotal role as the co-driver and main strategist for Team Ethiopia in Athens 2024, where his strategic execution helped lead the nation to a historic
second-place finish globally. In addition to his success, he was able to become the youngest ever member to co-mentor FGC Team Ethiopia.

Our efforts are overseen by our mentor, Dagmawi Girum, whose leadership has been the common thread in Ethiopia’s recent robotics achievements and success. Having led the national team during both the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, his guidance has been, and will continue to be, a pivotal part of our engineering process and solutions. In 2025, Dagmawi Girum was awarded a Best Mentor award at the FIRST Global Challenge for his truly exceptional impact on his students; we are very lucky to have him.

Our technical resilience was showcased when we received our components only one day before the competition. After building the hardware throughout that day, we arrived at the event with no code and were forced to program the entire system during the four-hour practice window. We successfully qualified, proving our ability to innovate and perform under extreme pressure.
