Hatem Dowidar is a visionary global technology executive, investor, and corporate board member who recently served as the Group CEO of e& until March 2026. Over his six-year tenure as Group CEO and a total of 10.5 years with the company, Hatem successfully architected one of the most significant corporate transformations in the telecommunications sector, pivoting e& from a traditional regional operator into a global technology, AI, and investment conglomerate operating across 38 countries. Under his leadership, the company achieved record financial performance and unprecedented growth.

A staunch advocate for the integration of artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies, Hatem has been instrumental in driving enterprise-level digital transformation. At e&, he championed initiatives that embedded AI, machine learning, and advanced data analytics into the core of network operations, enterprise solutions, and consumer digital services. His strategic foresight enabled the rapid scaling of new tech-driven verticals—from digital super-apps to smart infrastructure—establishing the foundational connectivity and compute ecosystems critical for the global AI revolution.

Hatem brings a wealth of expertise in global digital governance, technology investments, and corporate strategy to the boardroom and the global stage. Prior to his transformative leadership at e&, he built a robust foundation in global telecommunications during a distinguished 16-year tenure at Vodafone Group. During this time, he held several pivotal senior executive roles, including Group Chief of Staff and CEO of Vodafone Egypt, steering digital innovation across emerging and developed markets. For the past three years, he served as a member of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership Panel, playing an active role in guiding its evolution and shaping global discussions on critical challenges, including artificial intelligence, digital fragmentation, and the need for trust and sustainability in the digital space.

He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Vodafone Group Plc, a Board Member at Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily), and an Independent Non-Executive Director at BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust plc. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Electronics Engineering from Cairo University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the American University in Cairo.
