Sasha Rubel

Franco-American with a large part of my life spent in Africa, I bring people together across countries, disciplines, and sectors to use technology to change their lives and the world for the better. I advise governments, companies, non-profits, and change-makers on how to unlock the potential of artificial intelligence and data for the good of people and the planet through policies, partnerships, and capacity building.

I am passionate about making sure that everyone has the skills necessary to co-create a sustainable and inclusive future that is tech-enabled and human centred, and translate complex ideas about how to use technology to address the world’s biggest challenges into concrete policies and programmes.

My mission is to build a tech industry as diverse and inclusive as the societies we aspire to create.

Among my achievements are:
• Receiving the Public Diplomacy Innovation Prize from the White House under President Obama;
• Lead-facilitating the EU-AU Digital Economy Task Force and launch of the EU-AU Partnership for Digital Transformation with the President of the European Commission, Chancellor Merkel of Germany, and the Prime Ministers of Belgium, Latvia, and Estonia;
• Opening the first free coding school for girls in Senegal in partnership with Orange, and receiving the GEM-TECH Award for gender mainstreaming in ICTs from the ITU and UN Women;
• Leading the revision of the constitution of the Gambia following democratic elections;
• Organizing the first UNESCO global conference on Artificial Intelligence leading to standard setting in the field of the ethics of artificial intelligence, and the Internet Governance Forum that led to the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace.
