Emma Ruttkamp-Bloem
Emma Ruttkamp-Bloem is professor and head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Pretoria, the leader of the Ethics of AI Research Group at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research in South Africa and the co-chair of the Steering Committee for the Southern African Conference for AI Research. She is a member of COMEST and of the AUDA-NEPAD Consultative Roundtable on Ethics in Africa. She was the chairperson of the Bureau of the UNESCO Ad Hoc Expert Group tasked to prepare a Recommendation for a global instrument on the ethics of AI in 2020. She is the South African representative at the Responsible AI Network Africa. She is a member of various advisory boards such as that of the Swedish Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme (Human Sciences). Her AI ethics research focuses on topics in machine and data ethics.
