Dr. Ahmed Al-Yamani is the President of Prince Sultan University (PSU), the first private, nonprofit university in Saudi Arabia. As one of the country’s longest-serving university presidents, he has played a transformative role in advancing higher education through academic excellence, institutional quality, research innovation, sustainability, and international engagement.
Dr. Al-Yamani holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structures) from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Architectural Engineering with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a B.S. in Architectural Engineering with Honors from the same institution. His academic expertise and strategic vision have contributed significantly to strengthening the quality, competitiveness, and global standing of higher education in Saudi Arabia.
During his tenure, PSU has achieved major milestones in accreditation, research, employability, innovation, and sustainability. The university has expanded its contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established the Center for Sustainability and Climate, and strengthened its role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s human capital development objectives under Saudi Vision 2030. Dr. Al-Yamani is also the founding editor of the PSU Research Review: An International Interdisciplinary Journal, reflecting his longstanding commitment to advancing impactful research and scholarly collaboration.
Beyond PSU, Dr. Al-Yamani has served in several influential national leadership roles, including membership on the boards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, the National Center for Assessment (Qiyas), and the Ministry of Education’s Committee for the Evaluation of Distance Learning in Higher Education. He has also contributed to national policy discussions on higher education reform, quality assurance, digital transformation, and institutional readiness in the post-pandemic era.
Most recently, Dr. Al-Yamani presented at the prestigious Council for Higher Education Accreditation Conference, where he highlighted innovative approaches to artificial intelligence, accreditation, sustainability, and leadership in higher education.
