As AI accelerates global digital transformation, many low and lower-middle income countries (LICs and LMICs) still face major infrastructure gaps in connectivity, affordability, and digital capabilities. Building  AI‑enabling digital infrastructure requires countries to navigate fast‑evolving technologies – from cloud and edge computing to satellite networks and on‑orbit data processing – all of which are redefining what we understand as foundational infrastructure and critical capabilities.

This fireside conversation – held in the context of the Digital Infrastructure Investment Catalyser and drawing on its work to mobilize and promote investment – will bring together leaders from government, AI technology companies, development partners, and investors. The discussion will explore what core infrastructure components should be prioritized, and what barriers are slowing its deployment in LICs and LMICs.  Speakers will discuss the most effective financing models, partnerships, and policy approaches to accelerate investment, while examining data sovereignty, resilience, and inclusiveness.
