Ahmed Al-Yamani

Dr. Ahmed S. Al Yamani is the President of Prince Sultan University (PSU), the first private, nonprofit university in Saudi Arabia. As one of the Kingdom’s longest-serving university presidents, he has led PSU’s transformation into a globally recognized institution distinguished by academic excellence, research innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and international engagement.

Dr. Yamani earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structures) from the University of Michigan and both his M.S. and B.S. in Architectural Engineering with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His leadership has strengthened the quality, competitiveness, and global reputation of higher education in Saudi Arabia.

Under his leadership, PSU has achieved major milestones in accreditation, research, employability, innovation, and sustainability while advancing Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university established the Center for Sustainability and Climate, expanded interdisciplinary research, strengthened partnerships among academia, industry, and government, and founded the PSU Research Review: An International Interdisciplinary Journal to promote impactful global scholarship. Dr. Yamani has also served on national committees supporting accreditation, assessment, digital transformation, and higher education development.

Today, PSU maintains 100% accreditation across all eligible academic programs, operates 24 research laboratories, and supports more than 50 researchers ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists. The university has earned international recognition for excellence in research, digital transformation, sustainability, workforce development, and graduate employability.

A strong advocate for emerging technologies, Dr. Yamani champions the responsible integration of artificial intelligence, digital learning, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration to prepare future generations for the knowledge economy. Through his visionary leadership, Prince Sultan University has become a model for aligning academic excellence, research innovation, societal impact, and workforce readiness with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in higher education, technology, and sustainable development.
