Geneva is gearing up for the AI for Good Global Summit to be held at Palexpo, the largest convention center in the city, from 8 to 11 July 2025. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with 47 United Nations (UN) agencies and co-convened by the Government of Switzerland, this four-day event will usher in a summer of innovation as the UN’s leading platform on AI brings top names and innovators to the heart of vibrant Switzerland.
The Summit will open with ‘The Great AI Debate,’ a conversation between the well-known “Godfathers of AI” – Yann LeCun from Meta AI and Geoffrey Hinton the esteemed Nobel Laureate – bringing their unique perspectives to kick-off the 4-day discussions at AI for Good.
Over 1000 top minds in AI and more than 200 demonstrations will showcase cutting-edge innovations and real-world AI solutions from all regions of the globe. The AI for Good Global Summit 2025 stands as a crucial meeting point for stakeholders across various sectors and regions to discuss the opportunities and implications of AI technologies. This gathering at Palexpo will not only celebrate the current achievements in AI but also foster discussions on future directions and challenges.
As AI technologies continue to evolve at a rapid pace, the Global Summit brings together global leaders to explore AI’s potential in addressing global challenges, including a full day devoted to AI Governance Dialogue on 10 July that will facilitate exchanges between key stakeholders on effective approaches to AI governance. Then, the AI Standards Exchange on 11 July, organized in partnership with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC),focus on the future trajectory of AI and how to develop technical standards to create more opportunities for innovation worldwide.
This year we will launch the Quantum for Good initiative, marking the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. This effort underscores the potential of quantum technologies to revolutionize fields such as cybersecurity, medicine, and more, paralleling the transformative impact of AI.
Awarding innovation and applauding global efforts
A key feature of the event’s programme is the AI for Good Impact Awards. This initiative, organized in partnership with Tech To The Rescue, spotlights AI-driven solutions that significantly contribute to social impact, environmental sustainability, and ethical innovation. The awards celebrate projects that demonstrate AI’s potential to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, offering a platform for innovators to gain recognition and scale their impact. Winning projects will be showcased to a global audience on 9 July. Submissions are open here until 15 May.
Since its inception, the Global Summit has also placed emphasis on Artistic Intelligence. This includes projects such as the Artistic Intelligence Visionary Initiative (A.I.V.I) series, curated by R100Studios and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea, which spotlights artists who create works that aid our understanding and guide our future relationships with innovation and culture, in addition to the Canvas of the Future AI art contest.
Leading up to July, the second edition of Canvas of the Future has launched, inviting artists and AI innovators to delve into the intersection of AI, art, and sustainability. This year’s theme honors ITU’s 160-year legacy, calling for works that reflect how technology can shape a more connected and sustainable future. The winner’s artwork will be showcased at the Global Summit, with submissions open until May 15.
The AI for Good Film Festival screening will showcase films that integrate AI in scriptwriting, production, or visual effects. The festival underscores the powerful synergy between AI and human creativity, illustrating how AI is pushing the limits of traditional filmmaking. Finalists will present their films at the Global Summit, a unique opportunity for filmmakers to engage with an international audience and gain visibility for their work. Submissions are open until 15 May.
At the Global Summit, innovative AI startups from around the world will be in the spotlight for the Innovation Factory Grand Finale. In a live pitching competition, innovative solutions are presented to a panel of investors and industry partners, showcasing how AI can drive entrepreneurial success and tackle global challenges. A dedicated session will award women-led AI startups and female entrepreneurs from the Global South, and applications are open until 30 April.
Youth at the centre of AI innovation
This year, the AI for Good Global Summit is set to enhance the experience for young attendees by expanding the Youth Zone, a dedicated space for interactive learning. Building on the success of last year’s edition, the 2025 summit will allocate more space to host an even wider array of practical workshops and hands-on sessions focused on AI and robotics.

The Youth Zone offers a unique opportunity for children and teenagers aged 7 to 18 to immerse themselves in the world of AI and robotics. Designed to accommodate all levels of expertise, from beginners to more advanced enthusiasts, it provides a dynamic setting where learning is combined with fun.
Additionally, the Youth Zone will host the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale. This global event will bring together finalist teams from a pool of over 1200 participants across 25+ countries, who have designed robots for disaster management. The finale promises to be an inspiring showcase of innovation, creativity, and the role of young minds in shaping a better future.
