Dr. Yuseok Bae joined ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) in 1996. He has been involved in various research projects such as distributed computing, home network middleware, IPTV middleware, big data analytics, and visual artificial intelligence. As a principal researcher, he has been currently working with the Visual Intelligence Research Section, the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory in ETRI. His work focuses on visual artificial intelligence technology based on the mechanism of human visual understanding. His current research topics include computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, and distributed computing for improving visual intelligence. In addition, he is responsible for the DeepView research project to develop the visual big data discovery platform using visual artificial intelligence technology. The DeepView project aims to analyze large-scale visual data such as images and videos and understands their contents to tackle real-world social problems. Moreover, it received the 100 Excellent National R&D Performance Award in 2019 and the best ETRI R&D Performance Award in 2020.
