Wenwen Li

Wenwen Li is a Full Professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, where she leads the Cyberinfrastructure and Computational Intelligence Lab. Her research interests lie in the field of geographic information science, focusing on cyberinfrastructure, big data, and GeoAI for data-intensive environmental and social sciences. Li’s work has found applications in various scientific disciplines, including polar science, climatology, public health, hydrology, and urban studies. She has received research support from multiple funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and Open Geospatial Consortium. Li served as the Chair of the Association of American Geographers (AAG)’s cyberinfrastructure specialty group from 2013 to 2014 and currently holds the position of Chair of the Research Committee of the University Consortium of Geographic Information Science. In recognition of her contributions, Li received the NSF CAREER award in 2015 and the NSF Mid-Career Advancement Award in 2021. She was also honored as an elected AAG Fellow and UCGIS Fellow in 2023.
