Topaz McAuliffe

Topaz McAuliffe is a Torres Strait Islander woman with ancestral ties to Moa and Masig Islands – one of Australia’s Indigenous Peoples – and the Founder & CEO of 15 Times Better, an Australian advisory firm helping large organisations diagnose their organisational maturity and build the operational systems needed to create meaningful economic participation and lasting impact for Indigenous Peoples through employment, procurement and operations.

As artificial intelligence reshapes employment, procurement and public services, Topaz’s work increasingly focuses on ensuring AI strengthens, rather than unintentionally undermines, equitable economic participation for Indigenous Peoples. She advocates that inclusive AI requires more than responsible technology – it requires organisations to first understand the systems AI is being asked to optimise. Grounded in more than 15 years of implementation experience, Topaz brings a clear perspective to the global conversation: decisions about Indigenous Peoples must be made with Indigenous Peoples at the table. Without that, even well-intentioned systems risk reproducing the inequalities they were intended to solve. This principle underpins her work: Prosperity by Design.

Before founding 15 Times Better, Topaz designed and implemented Coles Group’s first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy – establishing the retailer’s first Indigenous supplier strategy, creating career opportunities for more than 10,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and developing the company’s approach to serving Australia’s most remote communities. The employment outcomes of this work were recognised by Fortune, the United Nations Global Compact and the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Today, Topaz works with organisations including Microsoft, Qantas, Bupa, PwC and IFM Investors – one of Australia’s largest institutional investors – through the 15xB G.R.O.® Assessment, recognised with Australia’s 2025 peak social impact innovation award. The assessment helps leaders identify capability gaps, understand workforce and supply chain risks, prioritise investment, and embed measurable Indigenous economic participation into organisational systems.
