Tianlu Wang

Dr. Tianlu Wang will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa as an Assistant Professor and lead the Soft robotics And Intelligent machines Laboratory (SAIL) in Spring 2024. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Germany. Previously, he received his Doctor of Sciences and Master of Science degrees, both from ETH Zurich. Tianlu has been working on small-scale soft robotic systems to deal with real-world challenges in environmental sustainability and healthcare. His research has been published in prestigious journals and conferences, including Nature Communications, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L), and Robotics: Science and Systems (RSS). He is the recipient of the Young Researcher Award at the 14th European Solid Mechanics Conference, the Best Paper Award at RSS, and the Best Poster Award at the Gordon Research Conference on Robotics.
