Silvia De Conca
Silvia De Conca is Assistant Professor in Law & Technology at the Transnational Legal Studies department of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and researcher and board member of the Amsterdam Law & Technology Institute (ALTI) at VU Amsterdam.
Silvia is the co-chair of the Human Rights in the Digital Age group, within the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research (NNHRR). She is a member of the Privacy & Identity Lab (PILab) and a member of the management team of the Demonstrator Lab.
Silvia holds a Ph.D. from Tilburg University (NL), as well as a Masters’ degree in IT law from LSE (U.K.), a Masters’ degree summa cum laude in comparative and international law, and a bachelor’s degree in law, both from Roma Tre University (Italy). Silvia has practiced law in international law firms in Milan and Rome and has taught at Monterrey Tech University (Mex).
Silvia’s research focuses on aspects of law and AI/robotics, privacy and data protection, online manipulation, smart home and IoT, and more in general law and technology.
