Richard Rothenberg

Richard V. Rothenberg is President of the Global Algorithmic Institute (UN MoU partner) a think tank whose AI-driven datasets measuring ESG risks and SDG progress have been incorporated into multiple United Nations publications.

Richard serves as Research Affiliate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory—one of the world’s premier supercomputing facilities with 13 Nobel Prizes—and advisor to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) on experimental AI technologies for national security applications.

He has served as UN Expert on the UNCTAD Task Force on Data for the SDGs and the UN Science, Technology and Innovation Expert Group, shaping international AI governance frameworks
As CEO and Co-Founder of Global AI Corporation, Richard deploys AI systems providing alternative ESG, SDG, and sustainable finance data for institutional clients, including governments, multinational corporations, and asset managers

Previously, Richard worked as a quantitative portfolio manager and researcher at multi-billion dollar hedge funds and global investment banks, including Deutsche Bank, and other leading institutions, pioneering AI/ML applications in financial markets.
Richard established the Quantitative Investing Group at the CFA NY Society – the leading forum for the investment community in NY with over 10k professional members – and also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of AI, Robotics & Workplace Automation.

He has been a speaker and advisor at the MIT/Stanford AI Summit in Davos during the World Economic Forum, the UN Financing For Development Summit & SDG Fair, the Future Minerals Forum in Saudi Arabia, where he presented an AI-powered Critical Minerals Barometer under royal patronage, among other international events.
Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computational Finance from the Monterrey Institute of Technology, a Certificate of Quantitative Finance from the CQF Institute, and an MBA in Quantitative Finance from Columbia University in New York City.
