We are the RoboCup team from ETH Zurich, comprised of students from mechanical engineering,

robotics, and computer science disciplines. Together, we participate in the annual RoboCup

competition in the Standard Platform League. Our goal is to program robots capable of competing in 7-

on-7 soccer matches against other teams. Our tasks include the development of motion control

functions to teach the robots movements such as walking, kicking, passing, and goalkeeper actions.

We also focus on perception, which involves how the robots perceive their environment using various

sensors. This includes the recognition of other robots and the ball, for which we use neural networks.

Another important aspect of our work is programming the behavior of the robots. Finite-state machines

determine how strikers, defenders, goalkeepers, and other positions on the field should behave to play

the game successfully. Within this context, the Institute for Automatic Control (IfA) at ETH supervised a

project for distributed gradient-based optimization and multi-agent cooperation for robotic systems.
