Mehdi Snene

Mehdi Snene

Dr. Mehdi Snene has spent his career trying to understand the brain and, increasingly, the machines built in its image. He began at the University Hospital of Geneva, where he founded a neuroscience research lab exploring what the brain and artificial intelligence can teach each other, including work on consciousness analytics. He went on to manage the €1 billion Human Brain Project at EPFL, the largest European neuroscience project of its kind, advancing brain simulation, neuromorphic computing, and computational approaches to consciousness. He now advises the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, leading global AI capacity-building with a focus on Africa.
