Jan Christian Redlich

Jan Christian Redlich is Chief Technology Officer at Bonn Systems GmbH, a German technology company building sovereign, industry-grade AI and scalable software architectures for agri-food, energy, mobility, security, and critical infrastructure. He leads the development of the company’s decision intelligence platform MAKOR, which uses semantic data integration to generate auditable situational intelligence for public authorities and industry.

Jan’s work sits at the intersection of research, industrial application, and the public sector with a particular focus on trusted, interoperable AI for high-stakes environments. In the agri-food sector, he leads the BMFTR-funded project AgriFoodLoop, which advances circular economy approaches through an interoperable platform for by-product flows across the food value chain. He has also contributed to publicly funded AI innovation projects in Germany and India, covering digital twins, satellite-based agricultural monitoring, and AI-supported decision systems, and serves as an advisor on software architecture and interoperability to the Indian start-up Balarama Agritech.

Concerning international standards, Jan chaired the Working Group on Data Acquisition and Modelling within the ITU/FAO Focus Group on AI and IoT for Digital Agriculture (FG-AI4A), and currently chairs the Working Group on Technical Specifications within the ITU U4SSC Thematic Group on Public Infrastructure for Cities. He holds a degree in Computer Science with additional studies in Communication Science, History, and Linguistics, and has taught in the Master’s programme in Computational Linguistics and Data Science at Ruhr University Bochum.

His professional focus lies at the intersection of semantic data architectures, ontology engineering, sovereign data spaces (GAIA-X, IDSA), and the application of AI, knowledge graphs, and decision support systems to interoperable and trusted digital solutions for critical infrastructure such as food and agriculture.
