Ivana Drobnjak

Ivana Drobnjak is a Professor at UCL Computer Science and is a member of the UNESCO Chair in AI. She holds a DPhil in Computational Modelling from the University of Oxford and her research expertise sits at the intersection of AI, digital health, and responsible technology. She co-authored two major UNESCO-UCL reports on AI bias and sustainable AI, and has presented her work at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the United Nations in New York, and the AI for Good Summit. She held an ABSW Media Fellowship with The Guardian.

Her research has contributed to global initiatives, including the Resilient AI Challenge in collaboration with French and Indian government partners and the Sustainable AI Coalition. Her work has also influenced the adoption of ethical AI guidance by public bodies, including the San Francisco City Council. Ivana’s research advances AI systems that are clean by design —high-performing, resource-efficient, and scalable across diverse global contexts. She is particularly focused on increasing the representation of women in AI, where women currently make up only 22% of teams and fewer than 10% of leadership positions.
