Fabio O’Ryan-Paulo

Fabio O’Ryan-Paulo is a back-end developer at Freerange Creatives, a digital, data and AI agency based between Amsterdam and Cape Town. His work spans AI, software engineering and knowledge base design, with a particular interest in building practical tools that expand access to trusted information.

At Freerange, he has played a key role in developing Kozani, a perinatal and mental health support chatbot created for mothers in underprivileged communities in South Africa. Kozani combines large language models,

retrieval-augmented generation and a locally curated knowledge base to provide reliable, context-aware health information in a way that is both accessible and trustworthy.

His work on Kozani sits at the intersection of AI development, healthcare access and multilingual conversational design in African languages.

Fabio holds a BSc in Computer Science and Physics, as well as an Honours degree in Computer Science, from the University of Cape Town.
