Brian Yau

Brian is an Infodemic Manager and creative design thinker with a background in product design engineering, utilizing digital platforms and technologies to gain insights and information on vaccine safety concerns.

He is currently part of the Infodemic Management Team at WHO, in the Department of Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness and Prevention.

Previously he was at the Vaccine Safety Net (VSN) developing partnerships, seeking external collaborators, and exploring digital innovations to further vaccine safety communication online.

The VSN was in the Pharmacovigilance, Regulation and Safety department where he was helping to develop an AI enhanced methodology to detect, identify and classify COVID-19 vaccine related events from online discussions. The platform was a collaboration with the EPFL and seen as a complimentary addition to traditional AEFI monitoring mechanisms.

Brian also monitors and measures the impact of online conversations using tools such as: CrowdTangle, Pulsar, Google Trends, EIOS and other social media audience insight analysis platforms.
