Alejandra Lagunes Soto Ruiz

Passionate to be part of and lead large transformational projects that bring value to her country. Today, she leads public policy development for sustainability, human rights, innovation and digital inclusion and the medicinal use of natural psychedelics. Alejandra Lagunes Soto Ruiz has a degree in communications from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). She was appointed National Digital Strategy Coordinator in 2012, where she was responsible for the creation and dissemination of the National Digital Strategy of the Presidency of Mexico. She has more than 13 years of experience in technology companies such as Yahoo, Microsoft, Google and Televisa. She is an expert in digital political communication, developed and implemented the digital campaign for the governorship of the State of Mexico in 2011, the 2012 presidential campaign and the 2018 presidential campaign. She is currently Senator of the Republic for the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico. In the Senate of the Republic she is Secretary of the Board of Directors and of the Digital Rights Committee, she is also a member of the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Health, Consumer Protection, Foreign Affairs, North America and International Organizations, and is also part of the Working Group for the strengthening of the Open Parliament in the Senate of the Republic. She is also a founding member of the National Artificial Intelligence Alliance ANIA, whose objective is to work in a multidisciplinary and transversal way to take advantage of the opportunities, mitigate the risks and guarantee that Artificial Intelligence is developed and deployed in an ethical and responsible way.
