In 1950, weather prediction became numerical. This first revolution has led to steadily increasing forecast skill ever since. Now, we might be seeing a second revolution as we go from hand-crafted code to learned algorithms. In this talk I will review the history and state-of-the-art of machine learning-based weather prediction. To support this, I will also present our recently released benchmark project WeatherBench 2.

This live event includes a 15-minute networking event hosted on the AI for Good Neural Network. This is your opportunity to ask questions, interact with the panelists and participants and build connections with the AI for Good community.
