Four months after the Paris Summit, what have we done collectively to advance a more inclusive and sustainable artificial intelligence?

Back in Paris, more than 100 countries came together to launch high impact projects on public interest themes like health, education, climate. Among these, two major initiatives emerged:

    – Backed with an initial $420 million investment from a wide range of stakeholders, the Current AI foundation was set up to reshape the existing AI landscape by developing and supporting large-scale initiatives that serve the public interest. It is now composed of 7 core partners, 11 countries, and 11 champions from the tech ecosystem.

    – With now more than 170 members, the Sustainable AI Coalition, co-initiated by France, UNEP and ITU, is bringing together a global community of stakeholders across the AI value chain and ecosystem ready to support and contribute to initiatives aimed at aligning the development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with global environmental sustainability goals.

It is now time to take stock, reflect and create new avenues for collaboration on both Current AI and the Sustainable AI Coalition.

This session will enable to provide a global overview of the progresses made by both initiatives since their launch in February, with the aim at engaging new partners.

The session is convened by the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland with the participation of the Special Envoy of the French President for AI and interim chair of Current AI.
