As agriculture faces increasing pressure from resource constraints, and a growing global population, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging as a critical tool to enhance productivity, and food security. However, the rapid adoption of AI in agriculture raises pressing questions about interoperability.

This three-hour workshop will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers. The workshop will also highlight the work of the ITU/FAO Focus Group on AI and IoT for Digital Agriculture (FG-AI4A), which is developed guidelines and technical reports to facilitate the responsible deployment of AI in agricultural ecosystems. Participants will gain insights into ongoing standardization efforts, collaborate on shaping future recommendations, and contribute to the global dialogue on AI-driven agricultural transformation.

    Discussions will focus on:

    • AI-Driven Smart Farming: Standardizing AI applications for precision agriculture, soil health monitoring, and yield prediction.
    • Data and Interoperability: Defining guidelines for agricultural data collection, sharing and modeling.
    • Scaling AI Solutions: Harmonizing AI adoption for smallholder farmers and large-scale agribusiness through regulatory and technical standards.
