Across the UN system, young people are increasingly recognized as essential actors in shaping inclusive, ethical, and impactful digital and AI ecosystems. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s Office of Youth and Women (OYW) has been actively fostering this transformation by equipping youth with digital literacy, ethical data practices, and platforms to innovate responsibly, from data protection training to global innovation challenges. FAO’s collaboration with ITU through initiatives such as the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge demonstrates how youth-led innovation can drive solutions to food insecurity and inspire a new generation of changemakers. In parallel, global platforms like the AI for Good Innovation Factory and the World Food Forum’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab provide fertile ground for young entrepreneurs and researchers to scale transformative ideas, particularly in the digital and agrifood domains. Against this backdrop, the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab, facilitated by FAO OYW, proposes a dynamic fireside chat session to spotlight youth leadership in designing, deploying, and sustaining digital and AI solutions to solve global challenges, placing young innovators at the center of global digital transformation.
