Yiwen CAO

Yiwen CAO is a young female director, screenwriter and actress from Hong Kong, China. Her debut feature film What’s next? was selected by 2025 Berlin International Film Festival (Forum). And she is recognized as the first director in the world whose AI films selected by three major European international film festivals (Cannes, Berlinale or Venice) .

Yiwen has also been invited as a keynote speaker on AI theme at the European Film Market of the Berlin International Film Festival, the Singapore Asian Film Market, and the Golden Rooster Awards AI Film Night in China.

And she has been interviewed multiple times by worldwide filmmakers, including Emmy Award winners.

Her AI short films have received awards and nominations at multiple international festivals, including Academy Award–qualifying festivals, Animation Day at both the Cannes International Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival, as well as the World AI Film Festival (Cannes) . And her other AI work won “See the Unseen” award at the 2025 First International Film Festival, which is the biggest youth film festival in China.

Before focusing on AI filmmaking, Yiwen worked in the traditional film industry as a screenwriter and actress, receiving multiple Best Screenplay and Best Actress awards at international film festivals, including BAFTA-qualifying and Canadian Screen Award-qualifying festivals.
