Yapeng Wang

Ms. Yapeng Wang is a Programme Officer at the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, working in the Strategic Engagement Department on AI and emerging technology initiatives. She also serves as the Secretary of the ITU Impact Initiative, where she advances innovation for impact and leads projects such as AI Readiness. In addition, she is responsible for the AI for Good Summit’s engagement in China and across the Asia region, fostering partnerships, outreach, and participation to strengthen AI collaboration globally. Her work also includes membership management, driving global AI capacity-building projects, and spearheading sponsorship efforts for key ITU events.

Prior to joining ITU, Ms. Wang was Deputy Director at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), where she played a pivotal role in fostering international cooperation and enhancing China’s contributions to ITU.

Alongside her professional career, Ms. Wang is a Ph.D. candidate at Aarhus University, focusing her research on network neutrality and emerging technologies. She has contributed to numerous high-impact publications, including conference papers, journal articles, and book chapters. Her expertise spans deep learning, AI, big data, and mobile multimedia, and she also holds a master’s degree in business administration and engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
