Xiao Rong

Dr. Xiao Rong is the Vice President and General Manager of the AI Technology Platform at Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies Co., Ltd., . He is a recipient of China’s National Major Talent Program and a Class-A Talent under Shenzhen’s Peacock Plan. He holds the professional title of Professor-level Senior Engineer. Dr. Xiao received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees from Nanjing University, with a focus on Computer Vision and Machine Learning. He currently leads the research, development, and deployment of AI-related products at Intellifusion. His professional career began at Microsoft Research Asia in 2001, where he worked on statistical learning and computer vision. He later joined Microsoft Bing’s Multimedia Search Division in the U.S. in 2012 as a Senior Software Engineer, and in 2015, he moved to Microsoft Research Redmond as a Senior Researcher, contributing to Azure’s visual computing efforts. Upon returning to China in 2018, Dr. Xiao served as the Chief Scientist of AI at Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance, where he led the commercial deployment of AI in insurance applications. Under his leadership, the development of a high-performance OCR engine earned Ping An Group’s Major Innovation Award and several international accolades. In 2021, Dr. Xiao joined Intellifusion, where he has overseen the development of cutting-edge technologies including foundation models, face recognition, person re-identification, and video structuring, supporting the company’s chip, public security, and commercial product lines. He has led multiple core AI projects and critical technological initiatives, achieving significant breakthroughs in large language models, multimodal foundation models, large-scale face recognition, ReID, and human/vehicle attribute analysis. His contributions were recognized with the First Prize of the 11th Wu Wenjun AI Science and Technology Progress Award in 2021. Under his direction, Intellifusion’s large foundation model “Yuntian Tianshu” topped key benchmark rankings such as C-Eval, CMMLU, and MMBench, and successfully passed regulatory filing with China’s Cyberspace Administration in late 2023.
