Thomas Sobottka

Thomas Sobottka, Dr. techn. (equivalent to Phd) is a senior researcher at Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH, unit Production and Logistics Management, as well as the TU Wien, Institute of Management Science, since 2011. In his current research, he supervises projects for the simulation-based energy-aware optimization of production processes, production planning and control in short to long-term planning horizons and digital-twin applications in production planning and control. He is the lead for the research topic Digital Factory at Fraunhofer Austria, aiming to develop solutions for reactive self-optimizing planning and control for production, based on simulation-based optimization, IOT/sensor data and AI methods.

 

He oversees applied research projects with industry partners around production optimization as well as factory planning and development, often involving the development of innovative planning tools, data processing for decision support and simulation-based optimization.
