Samuel Waymouth

Samuel Waymouth is a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect for Security and Compliance at Amazon Web Services, where he serves as the security lead for EMEA Energy & Utilities — advising CISOs and enterprise architects at some of the world’s largest energy companies on cloud security strategy, AI governance, digital sovereignty, and regulatory compliance. He is the Single Threaded Leader for the Compliance Focus Area within the AWS Security & Compliance Technical Field Community.
He is a regular speaker at industry and government forums — including delivering sessions on post-quantum cryptography and AI-accelerated threats at the AWS London Summit, the UK Ministry of Defence Cyber Threat Intelligence Symposium at Defence Academy Shrivenham, and executive security briefings for Fortune Global 500 CISOs across the energy sector.
He also serves as a Cyber Security Architect in the British Army Reserve (Royal Signals, Joint Defence Cyber Unit), where he conducts threat hunting, vulnerability assessments, and defensive cyber operations across classified networks. He has delivered threat modelling workshops to 70+ Ministry of Defence personnel and led incident response operations resolving persistent threats to national identity infrastructure.
Prior to AWS, Samuel held security architecture and consulting roles at KPMG, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Euroclear, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, with over 20 years of experience spanning financial services, critical national infrastructure, and the public sector. His work consistently bridges the gap between regulatory frameworks — including ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR, and the EU AI Act — and practical engineering outcomes for customers operating at scale.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Victoria University of Wellington and a Graduate Diploma in Law (Commendation) from the University of Law, London. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and SANS GSEC practitioner, and a dual citizen of New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
