Pierre Sedi

Pierre Sedi is a young Congolese (DRC) engineer with a passion for technology and scientific research. He obtained his Master’s degree in Computer Engineering at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Kinshasa and worked for a year as a telecom engineer in the DRC before moving to Italy where he is currently completing a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering. After having realized the first Congolese brain-computer interface (BCI) to control a robotic car from brain waves, which he named Cerebro, he set up the country’s first BCI research team at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Kinshasa, with the aim of developing this cutting- edge technology for use in the African medical context to assist severely handicapped people lacking motor ability and needing neuro-physio- rehabilitation. His areas of interest include applied artificial intelligence, neuroscience, telecommunications, embedded software, digital ledger technologies, the Internet of Things, power systems, and renewable energy.
