Oluwafunmilayo Ajakaiye

Oluwafunmilayo Rita Ajakaiye is a Nigerian STEM advocate at The Sapphires Development Initiative (TSDI), and AWS Now Go Build CTO Fellow whose journey began not with a title, but with a desire to help people. Starting as a volunteer at TSDI, she has grown into her role as Strategy, Innovation, and Development Lead; a position she holds with deep commitment to equitable education and community empowerment. She works at the intersection of technology, learning, and social impact, designing and leading programmes including STEMXX Nigeria, EDU4Peace, and the SustainHERbility Tech Academy (STA). As a Tech Trainer for STA, Oluwafunmilayo equipped 40 rural girls aged 9–16 with digital literacy and app development using offline-first tools built for low-resource settings. The result was four mobile applications created by the girls themselves, one of which is STEAMSpark, a gamified platform integrating STEM and SDG education.
Selected for the 2026 AWS CTO Fellows Education Cohort and a 2025 Erasmus Scholar of the GREENANO programme, Oluwafunmilayo is passionate about empowering young Africans, especially girls to lead through science, technology, and innovation.
