Loice K Gudukeya

Dr. Loice Gudukeya is a highly dedicated and accomplished professional in the field of engineering, with a proven track record of academic leadership, research excellence, and community impact. She currently serves as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment and is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe.

Dr. Gudukeya earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2018. Her doctoral research, titled “Towards Green Manufacturing: Improving Environmental Sustainability in the Zimbabwean Steel Industry”, reflects her enduring commitment to environmentally responsible and sustainable engineering practices.

She is the current Board Chairman for the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) and a corporate member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers (ZIE). She is also a member of the Renewable Energy Association of Zimbabwe (REAZ), where she contributes to the promotion and integration of renewable energy solutions across the country.

Dr. Gudukeya’s expertise lies in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, with a strong emphasis on Environmental Sustainability, both in academic instruction and applied research. Beyond her technical and academic achievements, she is deeply passionate about mentoring and empowering women and girls in STEM. She believes in the transformative power of inclusive education and is actively involved in initiatives that support the advancement of the girl child in engineering and related fields. Her commitment to building a gender-balanced STEM workforce has not gone unnoticed, she was recently recognized as one of Zimbabwe’s leading women in STEM, an accolade that underscores her impact as both a scholar and a mentor.

Dr. Gudukeya continues to inspire through her leadership, teaching, and advocacy, striving to create equitable, sustainable, and innovative solutions within the engineering profession.
