Karolin Frankenberger

Karolin Frankenberger is Dean of the Executive School, which leads the MBA, EMBA, custom and open programs of the University of St. Gallen. Further, Karolin is a Full Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation at the University, where she is also a member of the extended Executive Board of the University of St. Gallen. She has been a visiting professor/faculty at Harvard Business School, US in 2024 and at the St. Gallen Institute of Management in Asia, Singapore in 2022.

Her research, which focuses on the topics of business innovation, ecosystems, circular economy and strategic renewal has won several prestigious awards and appears regularly in top-tier academic and practitioner-oriented journals, such as Harvard Business Review or the Academy of Management Journal. Her co-authored book “The Business Model Navigator” has become an international bestseller and is known as standard references in its respective fields.

Prior to her academic career, Karolin worked for seven years at McKinsey & Company. Karolin has also founded a successful spin-off, is an internationally renowned keynote speaker and supports company leaders from numerous industries worldwide in their strategy, innovation, and digital transformation challenges. In addition, she is a board member of Bernina International AG, a Swiss-based internationally known sewing machine manufacturer. Karolin holds a PhD with highest distinction from the University of St.Gallen and was a visiting PhD student at Harvard Business School and the University of Connecticut.

She and her husband are parents to two daughters.
