Joseph Nyemah

Mr. Joseph Nyemah is FAO Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, effective January 12, 2025.

Mr. Nyemah joined FAO in 2017 as Food and Nutrition Officer at the FAO Subregional Office for the Pacific Islands in Apia, Samoa, from where he covered 14 countries.

He began his career in 1998 as Food Security Officer for Action Contre La Faim, covering various countries in Africa and Asia. From 2007 to 2014, he was Director of Economic Development and Regional Planning for the Government of Nova Scotia in Halifax, Canada. In 2014 and 2015, he was Integrated Context Analyst for the World Food Programme (WFP) headquarters in Rome, Italy. From 2015 to 2016, he was Coordinator of the FAO and WFP Food Security Cluster in Bamako, Mali. From June 2016 to March 2017, he was Humanitarian Advisor for the United Nations in Lilongwe, Malawi, supporting the Resident Coordinator and the Minister of Disaster Management Affairs.

Mr. Nyemah, a Canadian national, holds a Master of Arts in Training and Rural Development from Saint Francis Xavier University, and a Master of Arts in International Development from Dalhousie University, Canada.
