Ivana Drobnjak

Professor Ivana Drobnjak is Director of the Undergraduate Programme in Computer Science at University College London (UCL), a member of the UNESCO Chair in AI, and Organisation Lead at the Green Software Foundation (GSF). Her research focuses on computational healthcare and the development of responsible, human-centred AI systems, with attention to ethics, transparency, fairness, bias reduction, and sustainability.

She is actively involved in advancing more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible approaches to AI, particularly through her work with GSF, where she contributes to global efforts to promote greener software development practices. Her recent work explores the intersection of AI model design, software optimisation, and sustainability, and she is engaged in collaborations with academic, industry, and policy partners on responsible innovation.

Professor Drobnjak recently spoke at the United Nations Secretariat on ethical AI, and is also an ABSW Media Fellow at The Guardian, where she works to bring critical issues around AI and sustainability to broader public audiences.
