Eun-Kyeong Kim

Dr. Eun-Kyeong Kim is a spatial data scientist with over a decade of experience in applying cutting-edge techniques and methods to address complex socio-economic and environmental challenges. Her interests lie on topics of urban human mobility, sensor-based personal mobility and health in daily life, GeoAI, spatiotemporal data mining and analysis, geovisualization, and GIS.  

As the Spatial Data Science Lead & Research Associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), she is the Principal Investigator (PI) of several research projects: COVID-Contrail, GP4H, IMSensing, and GEOFAIR. Before joining LISER, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow & Lecturer at Department of Geography & URPP Dynamics of Healthy Aging, University of Zurich, Switzerland for sensor-based personal mobility and health projects: MOASIS, MOBITEC-GP, and MOBITEC-Stroke. She received a PhD in Geography with a focus on Geographic Information Science from Pennsylvania State University, USA.  

She collaborates with international and local partners in the Europe, US, and Asia. Her mission is to advance spatial data science for the public good as well as industrial innovations, and to contribute to the scientific knowledge and practices in the fields of urban mobility, climate change, health, and aging.
