Daniela Camberos

Daniela Camberos is the creator of Ramona, an AI platform built to stop the fraud and human trafficking that begin with a single fake job offer, anywhere in the world.

The trap is simple and brutal: a listing that looks real, a job that does not exist, and a person who shows up and disappears into forced labor. Daniela built Ramona to break that chain at its first link. You forward any job offer to Ramona on WhatsApp or Telegram, and in seconds it tells you whether it is real, and why. It is free, it runs on any phone, and it was built from 200 conversations with survivors before a single line of code existed, because she believed the people who had been deceived should design the thing that protects the next person.
Today Ramona works across five countries and has kept over 800 people out of the hands of traffickers. It also audits hiring algorithms so they stop quietly shutting out women and Indigenous workers.

In 2025 the United Nations named Ramona one of the world’s five most important innovations, and the CAF Development Bank of Latin America awarded it its Women in Innovation Prize. Daniela received the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Award for Ethical AI, is a UN Women Role Model and a member of the UNESCO Women for Ethical AI platform, and her work has been featured by Bloomberg. She is proof that the Global South does not have to wait for someone else to build ethical AI; it can build its own, and protect its own.
