Christian Thiam

Christian Thiam is a lecturer-researcher at the Université Numérique Cheikh Hamidou Kane, where he teaches and develops programs in digital arts, audiovisual production, and creative technologies. Since 2021, he has served as Training Programs Coordinator for the FORCE-N Project, supported by the Mastercard Foundation.
His research focuses on Senegalese and African cinema, cultural identity, and the concept of national cinema. His doctoral work explores how film rhythm can serve as an objective indicator of cultural and cinematic identity, combining film theory, digital humanities, and mathematical analysis. Through the study of shot duration patterns and rhythmic structures, he seeks to distinguish the legal nationality of a film from its cultural and patrimonial origins.
Christian Thiam is also an award-winning filmmaker and author, working across documentary, fiction, and academic research.
