Carina Kabajunga Wangwe

Carina Kabajunga Wangwe was appointed Chief Data Officer and Associate Director in the Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring (DAPM) for UNICEF in January 2025. In this role, she provides intellectual, managerial, technical and advocacy leadership in UNICEF for the safe use of data technologies such as AI as well as all forms of data at global, regional and country levels within the overall mission of UNICEF to promote the rights of every child. 

She has over 20 years of leadership experience in the data space from within international intergovernmental organizations including the Commonwealth Secretariat, and she has worked in academia, and private and public sector organizations in the United Kingdom, Tanzania and Uganda.
