Bernd Meyer

As Associate Dean (Sustainability) at the Faculty of IT at Monash University, Professor Bernd Meyer leads the sustainability agenda across research, education, and outreach. His own research in computational ecology develops mathematical and computational models for the interactions of organisms with their environment, including the impact our changing environment has on their lives.

It focuses on the collective behaviour of social insects, specifically ants and bees, in the hope that a deeper understanding of their behaviour will allow us to better protect them and the important ecosystem services they provide. He also develops AI-based methods for monitoring animal activity in the wild and in lab experiments.
