Baichen Luo

Baichen Luo is 16 years old and, and will enter Grade 12 at St. Andrew’s College,Canada next year. Shortly after moving to Canada at age 10, he discovered his passion for computer engineering and robotics by building a simple moving robot with a Raspberry Pi. He later participated in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), where his team reached the provincial level. Baichen developed more fully as a roboticist in Grade 10 through the RoboCupJunior Rescue Maze competition. He led a team of four that designed and programmed a fully autonomous robot capable of mapping a maze and using machine learning and computer vision to detect victims. He has since represented Canada at the world competition twice, in 2025 and 2026, demonstrating his skill and dedication in robotics. Baichen is also interested in embodied artificial intelligence and has experience with deep learning. In the summer of 2025, he worked as a research intern at Fudan University in Shanghai, where he performed experiments to verify a paper on robotic visualmotor policy and collect data for postgraduate students.
